In 1991, on the best locations in the hills of Limburg, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines were planted. They thrive particularly well in Haspengouw area which has an upper layer of clay and a calcium rich under layer of marl. • Mr. Frank Van der Auwera (The 300 best wines under 10€): Chardonnay Blue: "The taste opens with a touch of honey and an impression of rancid butter, but besides the yellow fruit it has above all a very refreshing after-taste.
I would call it a Belgian Chablis.”
  • Mr. Christian Callec (The big wine encyclopedia): "One Belgian winery peaks above all others, as well in quality, as in surface and professionalism:’ Wijnkasteel Genoels-Elderen’. The wines are full-bodied, elegant, complex and very aromatic. The Chardonnay Gold is of an exceptional quality.”
  • Mrs. Ann Van Steenbergen (Horeca Magazine): "A very complex wine full of minerals. Exceptionally charming from the beginning till the end, with a splendid after-taste.  An example of how a well-made Chardonnay should taste… Magnificent! Wines that testify of great class…”.
  • Mr. Etienne Van Steenberge (Het Laatste Nieuws): “White:: glows with health, pure fruit, all finesse, the skills are  perceptibly present. 9/10 - Blue: brilliant, rich, full and a minimal presence of oak., mainly fruit, harmonious, great finale. 9/10 - Gold: shiny yellow-gold, complex smell, elegant, rich, harmonious  and magnificent, an overwhelming finish. A Chardonnay of the highest level, a showpiece for dinner parties. 10/10”
  • Mr. René van Heusden (Perswijn): “A castle with the image of a grand cru in the Médoc and wines that can compete with great white Burgundies.. The Pinot Noir is also fabulous."

  1. THE VINEYARDS: with extreme vigilance and much labour we take care of 16 hectares of pure and healthy vineyards, without the use of pesticides and artificial manure. The green harvest limits the volume but increases the concentration, the maturity and the character.
  2. THE VINIFICATION: when optimal maturity occurs a manual harvest is done whereby the eventual unripe or rotten grapes are removed. A slow and gentle pressing of three hours with a double membrane pneumatic press in order to extract only the highest quality juice. Approximately four week fermentation under perfect temperature control and systematic malolactic fermentation. The maturing “sur lies” and “bâtonnage” for 12 months enriches the wine with aromas of his own terrain, fattiness and earthly tastes. Bottled on the property.
  3. PRESERVATION AND MATURING OF THE WINES: after botteling, the wines are stored at the Castle from 12 to 48 months, in order to avoid fatigue after botteling. Bottles with faulty corks are removed and an optimal harmony is achieved by the fusion of the wine.
  4. THE COMMERCIALISATION IN THE WORLD: a yearly production of about 80,000 bottles is sold partially at the castle to wine lovers and tourists. There is exportation to the Netherlands, England, Japan, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Germany and France. We are proud to be able to deliver to several top restaurants, of which more than 50 with Michelin-Stars, such as in Belgium (Comme Chez Soi **, Sea Grill **, Château du Mylord *, …), in The Netherlands (Da Vinci*, Wolfslaar*, …), in France (Tour d’Argent ***, Alain Ducasse, …), ….
